MKU Woodball players set for the Woodball World Cup in Malaysia

Ten Mount Kenya University (MKU) students have been selected to represent Kenya at the Woodball World Cup, which will be held in Malaysia from 24th to 30th July 2026.

The university has contributed 10 of the 15 players in the national team, reaffirming its position as one of Kenya’s leading universities in sports excellence.

Woodball remains one of MKU’s most successful sporting disciplines. This achievement has been made possible through the university management’s continued investment in quality training equipment, unwavering support for the team, and the players’ dedication, discipline, and resilience in training.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Mr. William Luta, the University’s Sports, Film and Creative Arts Coordinator, noted that the national squad is composed of talented young athletes, the majority of whom are drawn from universities across the country. He expressed confidence that the team is well-prepared to compete at the highest level and represent Kenya with distinction.

The MKU Woodball Team Captain, Hydan Muasya, who is among the players selected for Team Kenya, expressed excitement about the opportunity to represent both the university and the nation.

“We are honoured to represent Kenya at the Woodball World Cup. We have prepared well, and our goal is to bring home medals and make both our country and Mount Kenya University proud,” she said.

The Kenyan delegation is scheduled to depart on 22nd July 2026 for Malaysia ahead of the championship.

Mount Kenya University wishes Team Kenya a safe journey and every success as they fly the Kenyan flag high on the global stage.
