‘I Always Book a Man to Do My Feet’: Woman’s Posts Stuns Kenyans

A woman sparked widespread debate on X after posting a video of herself getting a pedicure while stating that one of her “contributions to misandry” was always choosing a man to do her feet.

The remark quickly gained attention, attracting mixed reactions from users who interpreted it differently, with some treating it as a joke while others used it to discuss the growing gender wars on social media.

The discussion began after the woman shared a video of herself at a nail salon, showing a male nail technician working on her feet.

In the caption, she wrote, “One of my contributions to misandry is that I always book a man to do my feet.”

The post spread rapidly across X, where thousands of users weighed in on the statement, debating whether it was harmless humour or an unnecessary attempt to fuel gender-based conversations online.

Economic Reality vs. Social Media Clout

Many users questioned the logic behind the statement, arguing that regardless of the intention, booking a male nail technician ultimately supports his business by giving him paying customers.

Others pointed out that the technician was simply doing his job professionally and that the caption had little effect beyond generating engagement online.

One user, @Karis_Gunner254, commented:

“But you are contributing to the man’s income, dummy”

The conversation later expanded beyond the original post, with users discussing the increasing number of social media posts centred around gender rivalry.

Some argued that similar remarks targeting either men or women often receive significant attention because they generate controversy, leading to more shares, comments and reposts across platforms.

Others suggested that the trend has become common, particularly on X and TikTok, where provocative opinions frequently dominate online discussions.

Several users also expressed concern that such comments could influence younger audiences who regularly consume viral content on platforms such as TikTok.

According to some contributors, repeated jokes or statements framed around hostility between genders may be embraced by younger users without considering the broader context, potentially encouraging unnecessary divisions online.

As @konshizzy remarked:

“Hii sai ukienda huko TikTok comments utapata vile the typical intellectually malnourished women in the comment section are gassing her up wakimuita ‘queen’”

Occupational Stereotypes and the Gender War

A section of commenters went further, making controversial remarks by referring to male nail technicians and other men in similar professions as “gay” while suggesting that traditional ideas of masculinity had become weaker.

Their comments attracted further debate, with other users challenging the stereotypes and pointing out that a person’s occupation does not determine their sexual orientation.

User @AlooterC wrote:

“She’s right… men have become gays… doing ladies stuff instead of men’s work. How do you scrub a woman’s toes, nails, back as a man surely”

As the debate continued, the original video remained widely shared, with fresh reactions continuing to emerge from users on different sides of the discussion.

While some viewed the caption as satire intended to spark engagement, others maintained that it reflected the increasingly polarised conversations surrounding gender on social media, keeping the topic trending long after the initial post.
