From the quiet suburbs of the United States to the lush landscapes of Kitale, Mama Jimmy’s journey has been nothing short of a whirlwind. Now settled in her husband’s native home, she recently took a moment to look back.
While preparing a meal in their American kitchen, she shared a chilling memory with her husband, Baba Jimmy, about a day that their dinner was interrupted by an uninvited guest.
A Sudden Intruder
The incident took place in their former home in Kitale, Kenya. It was a typical evening, and the family was preparing for a meal.

“A snake dropped into the ugali,” Mama Jimmy recalled. The reptile did not crawl through a door or window. Instead, it came from above. “And it came from the iron sheets, right?” Baba Jimmy asked.
The Unfinished Walls
The family house at the time was still under construction in some areas. This lack of completion provided an easy entrance for local wildlife.
“It is like you see how the house is finished and you have not finished it, they say a hole,” Mama Jimmy explained.
This gap between the walls and the corrugated iron roofing allowed the snake to find its way inside the living space.
A Ruined Feast
On that particular day, the family had prepared a significant amount of food. “There is a day we found it, we put ugali, we cooked a large portion of ugali and put it there,” she said. Her mother had been the one at the stove.

“My mother knows how to cook very well, wesat down to start eating,” Mama Jimmy added. The meal was meant to be a pleasant family gathering.
The Great Escape
The peace was shattered by a sudden noise and a heavy thud. “Something went ‘pa’, it was a big snake, we ran away,” Mama Jimmy described. The sheer size of the creature was enough to send everyone bolting for the exit. “Thick, I cannot even explain now, I do not remember much, but it was a snake, we ran away, everyone left the ugali,” she told her husband.
In the middle of the chaos, even the neighbours were alerted. Mama Jimmy noted that a local worker was nearby during the commotion.

“There is a neighbour who had a worker who was looking after cows for him,” she mentioned.
Life After Kitale
The couple, who became internet sensations for their lifestyle content, relocated to the United States in mid-2024. They currently boast over 1.2 million followers on TikTok and hundreds of thousands of subscribers on YouTube. Their move to Kentucky marked a major shift from their rural roots in Trans-Nzoia County.
