Relief as 16 pupils stung by bees are stabilised

The 16 CITAM Woodley Primary School pupils who were stung by bees during an educational tour to Lake Baringo are in stable condition following emergency medical intervention.

According to the Kenya Red Cross, five of the learners had sustained severe bee stings after a swarm attacked the school group at Kambi Samaki Junction in Baringo North on Saturday.

The group comprised 174 pupils, eight teachers and five drivers, bringing the total number of people involved to 187.

Kenya Red Cross teams, in collaboration with the National and County Government agencies, responded to the incident by providing first aid, medical evacuation and search and tracing services.

In a statement posted on its official X account Kenya Red Cross said all those affected have since been stabilised and are receiving the necessary medical care. The emergency response operation was concluded at 9.00 p.m. on Friday July 3, 2026.

No fatalities were reported.
