Content creator Shigwan Shiqo has spoken publicly about experiencing what she described as a cryptic pregnancy, after online discussions and private messages questioned whether her pregnancy had been genuine or staged for content.
Speaking through a video shared on her Instagram account, Shigwan addressed comments she said she had been receiving following earlier discussions around responsibility and motherhood. She explained that one particular comment pushed her to tell her story.
“I saw the comments and the DMs. People were asking whether Shigwan’s pregnancy was content, whether it was real, whether it was even true if we count the months.” According to Shigwan, one message referenced a previous video in which she encouraged young women to be responsible.
“Someone told me, ‘You are telling us that and yet you have been hiding your pregnancy. Do you think we haven’t been counting the months?”

Responding to the claims, Shigwan said she considers herself a responsible person and explained that she later learned she had experienced what she called a cryptic pregnancy — a situation she said she discovered after searching online.
She recalled that before finding out she was pregnant, she had attended a Safaricom event along Kangundo Road before later going out with friends.
At the time, she said she had been taking antibiotics for a stomach infection and noticed she could not comfortably take alcohol.
I assumed the reaction was connected to the medication.
The following day, she visited the hospital intending to get another prescription for antibiotics. She also mentioned feeling discomfort around her back and wanted medical advice.
Shigwan said the doctor suggested carrying out a scan to rule out other possible concerns.
“The doctor said, ‘Let’s do a scan so that if it’s growth or anything serious, we know early.’”

She then underwent the scan.
According to Shigwan, the medical professional carrying out the examination surprised her with unexpected news.
“They told me, ‘Madam, you have a very good body, your tummy is flat, and the baby is growing well.’”
She said she was informed that the pregnancy had already reached five months.
Shigwan added that her doctor congratulated her and confirmed that she was expecting. Reflecting on the experience, she maintained that she had carried the pregnancy for months without realising it. “I had been pregnant for months, and I did not know. I never experienced any signs or symptoms of pregnancy.”
