Kenyan businessman Simon Kabu has caused a stir on social media after posting a photograph of a young girl, accompanied by a message about the beauty of fatherhood.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Kabu shared the image with the caption: “Watoto Ni baraka Kutoka kwa Maulana 😊😊 My babygal I love you so very much…Do we look alike??”
The post, which included the hashtag #thekabus, quickly drew thousands of reactions from followers who were divided over the child’s identity.
The ‘Anita’ Mystery
The post triggered immediate speculation regarding who the young girl is. A significant number of followers suggested the image might be a throwback photo of Anita, Kabu’s daughter from a previous relationship.
User @sly.wambui.52 commented, “Huyu ni Anita akiwa small,” suggesting the photo is not of a new addition to the family but a memory of his daughter with Sarah Mtalii. This sentiment was echoed by @nyakairu_mbugua, who stated flatly, “Guys, this is Anita.”

Another follower, @the_zaph_fam, noted the strong physical resemblance, writing, “ANITA THE KABUS PRINCESS 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️ DADS COPY.”
“Umeanza kutuonesha polepole tu, ex alisema ni wengi 👏👏👏👏 children are a blessing ❤️❤️❤️❤️😍” — @nancyamanda426.
The ‘Jonasi’ Comparisons
However, the timing of the post led many others to draw parallels between Kabu and the character Jonasi Gomora from the trending South African Netflix series, The Polygamist. The show follows a man balancing multiple relationships, a theme that some social media users were quick to link to Kabu’s personal life.
The comparison became a recurring theme in the comments section. User @ladymutheu: “Yaani hungetulia tu kidogo the polygamist iwache kutrend.” Meanwhile, @tatiana42790 remarked on the coincidence, saying, “I was thinking today who is Jonasi in Kenya and I thought of this guy 😂.”
Other users simply posted the name “Jonasi” or “Ujonasi” to signal their thoughts on the matter. @irenekasyoki went further, describing the post as “a good definition ya Jonasi.”

Divided Reactions
While many focused on the identity of the child or the “Jonasi” comparisons, others offered support for Kabu’s role as a father. @wambuajmary wrote, “Present father. That’s enough.”
Not all reactions were positive, however. Some users expressed exhaustion with the ongoing public drama surrounding the family’s private life. @afriqueenliz commented, “Aaah we need to rest 😂,” while @yaramel2 posted a more critical view of the situation.
The businessman has yet to clarify if the photo is indeed a throwback or a new revelation, leaving the “Jonasi” debate to continue trending across Kenyan social media circles.
