Prophet Kanyari’s Advice to Broke Men After His Past ‘Sugar Mummy’ Ordeal

Prophet Victor Kanyari, the head of the Salvation Healing Ministry, recently shared a candid story during one of his sermons. The controversial preacher spoke about his younger years and the lessons he learned while living under the care of a wealthy older woman, often referred to as a “sugar mummy.

Kanyari warned his congregation against the dangers of being overly possessive. He specifically cautioned men about the consequences of following their wives or partners everywhere they go.

Life After School

The story dates back to the period shortly after Kanyari finished his secondary education. Struggling with poverty, he entered into a relationship where an older woman provided for his basic needs.

After finishing form four, I was housed by a sugar mummy because of poverty,” Kanyari revealed.

At the time, he was trying to establish himself by selling shoes imported from Uganda.

One morning, Kanyari noticed his benefactor dressed in a mini-skirt and preparing to leave. When he questioned her destination, she told him to mind his own business. Suspecting she was meeting someone else, Kanyari decided to follow her secretly on a motorbike.

If you follow your woman everywhere, you will be disappointed. Just let her be,” Kanyari warned.

The Confrontation in Kayole

Kanyari trailed the woman to a location where he found her sharing a meal with several men. Among them, he claims, was the late David Mwenje, a once-powerful and feared Member of Parliament for Embakasi.

Overwhelmed by emotion, Kanyari confronted the group. In a moment of anger, he kicked their table, sending their meal of meat flying. The reaction from the men was immediate and violent. Kanyari recalls being brutally beaten by the group in the Kayole area.

A Month in Hospital

The physical assault was so severe that Kanyari lost consciousness. He woke up in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kenyatta National Hospital. He remained hospitalised for an entire month, recovering from the injuries sustained during the encounter.

Throughout his recovery, the woman continued to visit him. However, the dynamic of their relationship changed once he was discharged and returned to her house.

The Price of Dependence

Upon his return, the woman confronted Kanyari about his actions. She pointed out that he contributed nothing to the household. She asked if he had ever paid the rent, bought food, or paid for her child’s schooling.

She told him plainly that since she provided everything, he had no right to question her movements or her company.

She asked me, ‘Since you came to this house, have you ever bought food? Have you paid the rent? Do you even know which school my child attends?

A Warning to Men

Kanyari used this personal experience to deliver a message on financial independence and domestic boundaries. He argued that a man without his own income has no “voice” in a relationship.

He concluded by advising men that if they do not want to be disappointed, they should avoid following their partners to see what they are doing in private. He suggested that if a man does not work with his own hands, he risks losing his respect and his place in the home.
