Kenyan Fans Defend Ssaru, Mandy Rose After Jeamyblessed’s Comments

Social media personality Jeamyblessed has sparked debate online after urging female artists to release more bold and aggressive music, comments that were met with strong reactions from Kenyan music lovers defending local female talent.

Jeamyblessed, who is a Germany-based social media personality known for lifestyle content, online commentary and entertainment discussions, made the remarks through her social media platforms while discussing women in the music industry.

The influencer, whose content often revolves around lifestyle and public opinion topics, argued that more female musicians should embrace stronger and more fearless musical styles.

“Female artists need to release more bold and aggressive songs,” she stated.

She also praised the music of Kenyan singers Nikita Kering and Bridget Blue, saying she admires their artistry and musical direction.

“I love Nikita and Bridget Blue music,” she added.

However, her comments quickly triggered debate in the comment sections, with many Kenyan social media users disagreeing with the suggestion that female artists are not doing enough musically.

Fans defend Kenyan female artists

Several online users responded by mentioning artists such as Ssaru and Mandy Rose, arguing that Kenya already has female musicians producing bold, energetic and aggressive music styles.

Fans pointed out that Ssaru has built a strong reputation within Kenya’s Gengetone and rap scene through confident lyrics and street-inspired music, while Mandy Rose has remained known for energetic club hits and outspoken performances.

“Go listen to Ssaru and Mandy,” some users responded in the comment section.

Others maintained that the problem is not a lack of talented female artists but rather limited industry support, unequal promotion and the dominance of male artists within mainstream entertainment spaces.

Growing conversation online

The discussion continued spreading across social media platforms, with users debating what defines “bold” music and whether female artists should change their style to compete in the industry.

Some users agreed with Jeamyblessed, saying more female musicians should experiment with fearless performance styles and stronger stage presence.

Others argued that originality matters more than aggression, adding that Kenyan female artists have already proven themselves across Afro-pop, rap, soul and Gengetone music.

Rise of women in Kenyan music

Over the years, Kenya’s entertainment industry has witnessed the growth of several successful female musicians who continue shaping modern African music.

Artists such as Nikita Kering, Ssaru, Nadia Mukami, Femi One and Bridget Blue have built loyal audiences through different musical styles and digital platforms.

Industry observers note that social media platforms including TikTok, YouTube and Instagram have helped female artists reach wider audiences independently without relying entirely on traditional media.

Despite the mixed reactions, the conversation sparked by Jeamyblessed has continued highlighting ongoing discussions about creativity, representation and the evolving role of women in East Africa’s music industry.
