Kalonzo in London for Chatham House lecture on opposition’s 2027 agenda

Wiper Patriotic Front leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is in London for a series of engagements focused on Kenya’s economic prospects, investment opportunities and the political opposition’s agenda ahead of the August 2027 General Election.

In a statement by Wiper Patriotic Front Spokesperson Ndegwa Njiru, Kalonzo, who leads The Ukombozi Alliance (TUA), arrived in the United Kingdom on Monday for an official programme that includes a keynote address at Chatham House on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

His visit brings together two key issues: Kenya’s potential as a regional financial centre and the opposition’s policy priorities as the country prepares for the next general election.

The former Vice-President is also scheduled to attend an evening reception at the House of Commons, where he is the chief guest at an event hosted by the Westminster Africa Business Group in partnership with the Eastern Africa Association.

The reception is being hosted by Conservative MP Sir Gavin Williamson, who chairs the Westminster Africa Business Group and represents Stone, Great Wyrley and Penkridge.

The event is being held under the theme “Kenya as a Regional Financial Hub and the Future of East African Capital Markets”.

It brings together stakeholders to discuss Kenya’s position as a regional financial centre, the mobilisation of African capital to support the continent’s transformation and ways to strengthen economic ties between Kenya, the United Kingdom and the wider international community.

The discussions are also intended to explore opportunities to deepen trade, investment and economic cooperation.

Kalonzo’s engagements come as Kenya approaches the 2027 General Election, with his Chatham House address expected to outline the opposition’s outlook and policy priorities for the country.

The lecture is titled “The Opposition’s Outlook and Policy Agenda on the Road to 10 August 2027”.

The address places the opposition’s policy agenda at the centre of Kalonzo’s London programme, with the August 10, 2027, election date forming the reference point for his presentation.
