Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has said that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will defeat President William Ruto in next year’s general election.
Wambua urged residents of Kitui county, Kalonzo’s home county, to rally behind their political kingpin and support his presidential bid to become Kenya’s sixth president.
The senator said he had no doubt that the former vice president enjoyed widespread support across the country.
“I have accompanied Kalonzo Musyoka to many parts of Kenya. He commands immense and a near-fanatical following everywhere. He will be the president of Kenya come 2027,” Wambua said.
Wambua, who has shifted his political ambitions to the Kitui gubernatorial race, spoke at Zombe trading centre in Kitui East subcounty on Saturday while on a campaign tour.
He sought the residents’ commitment to supporting Kalonzo’s presidential bid.
“Are you going to firmly support Kalonzo in his quest to be president of Kenya? Are you going to pray for Kalonzo?” he said.
Wambua also appealed to Kitui East residents to support his bid for the governorship, saying his record as senator made him the best candidate to succeed Governor Julius Malombe in 2027.
He said he had served the people of Kitui diligently since his election as senator and had consistently ranked among the country’s top-performing senators.
“My track record as senator for two terms speaks for itself. I have also been ranked the best senator in Kenya for three consecutive years-in 2023, 2024 and 2025.”
Wambua further claimed that he had played a key role in securing increased budgetary allocations for the Kitui county, which he said had risen to Sh13 billion.
He pledged to push for an increase in the allocation to Sh15 billion before the 2027 election.
“I have been behind the increase in the budgetary allocation to Kitui county. Since I have helped Kitui get more money, I am best suited to oversee its utilisation as governor. I need your votes,” he said.
At the same time, Wambua cautioned aspirants seeking various political seats in Kitui against inciting violence or disrupting their opponents’ political rallies.
He said such behaviour was criminal and undermined democratic principles, urging politicians to conduct their campaigns peacefully.
“I am known everywhere as a man of peace. I preach peace to all people. It is foolhardy for our people to suffer injuries while fighting for politicians. Shun politicians who incite violence against their opponents,” he said.
