A Kenyan named Frank Neva has taken to social media to expose a suspected phone thief after the stolen device inadvertently helped identify the culprit. The Rongai man is alleged to have stolen the phone. According to Neva, an OPPO A17K handset was stolen at Royal City Sanctuary, located near Superloaf Bakery in Kitengela town. The incident was reported to Kitengela Police Station on August 10, the same day the phone was stolen, and an Occurrence Book entry was recorded. How the Stolen Phone Gave the Thief Away After taking possession of the device, the suspect began using the camera, unaware that the phone was configured to automatically back up images to the original owner’s email account. The photos the suspect took of himself were transmitted directly to the owner’s inbox, giving him clear images of the alleged thief’s face. Neva shared the photographs online, appealing to the public to help identify the individual and urged anyone with information to contact Kitengela Police Station or reach him directly through a direct message. Suspect Identified by Online Follower The appeal drew a prompt response from one of Neva’s followers, who claimed to recognise the man in the photographs. “Hi Frank, huyu kijana anaitwa Steve. Yeye uishi kyangombe and he’s one of the notorious gangs. Base zake ni hapo governors na Alta Kitengela. Waambie wakue careful yeye hukua na kisu 24/7,” the follower wrote, warning residents in the area to exercise caution around the individual. The post attracted a wave of reactions from Kenyans online.
