Thee Pluto: This is How to Spot a Legit Trading Platform

Content creator and trader Thee Pluto has shared advice on identifying legitimate online trading platforms and avoiding fraudulent websites.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, Thee Pluto outlined several features he believes every reliable trading platform should have, saying users should look beyond flashy promises and focus on how a platform operates.

His remarks come at a time when interest in online trading, including forex and cryptocurrency, continues to grow, with more Kenyans turning to digital platforms in search of additional income.

At the same time, financial regulators have repeatedly warned the public to be cautious of fraudulent investment schemes and unlicensed online platforms.

KYC is one of the first signs

According to Thee Pluto, one of the first things users should check is whether a platform requires Know Your Customer (KYC) verification.
KYC is the process where users are asked to submit identification documents, such as a national ID or passport, to verify their identity.

“There are sites that ask for KYC, where you are required to upload documents like your ID. There are also sites that do not require KYC. Most international trading sites will require you to complete that KYC process,” he explained.

Identity verification is a standard requirement for many regulated financial platforms as part of anti-money laundering and fraud prevention measures.

Speed and reliability matter

Thee Pluto also stressed that a good trading platform should be fast and dependable.
He said deposits, withdrawals and market analysis tools should function smoothly without unnecessary delays or system interruptions.

“It has to be fast, and execution has to be reliable. When you click to withdraw, it should be fast. When you click to deposit, it should also be fast. Even when analysing the market, the platform should not keep hanging,” he said.

Easy to understand

Another feature he highlighted is a user-friendly interface.
According to him, users should be able to navigate the platform easily and understand what is happening without struggling through complicated menus.
He added that reliable platforms should also offer several deposit and withdrawal options.

“If one payment method, such as PayPal, experiences delays, users should have another option, like M-Pesa, to withdraw their money,” he said.

Having multiple payment channels can help minimise disruptions when one service is temporarily unavailable.

Advanced tools and customer support

Thee Pluto further noted that a good trading platform should provide advanced trading features that assist users in making informed decisions.
These may include real-time charts, technical indicators and other analytical tools commonly used by traders.
He also emphasised the importance of accessible customer support.

“If you have a problem with withdrawals, deposits or any other challenge, there should be customer support that you can message or contact to ask questions,” he said.

The responsive customer service is an important indicator that a platform is prepared to assist users whenever issues arise.
