Who has been eliminated from the World Cup?

Of the 48 nations competing at the 2026 World Cup, 45 have now been eliminated.

From the first 16 to exit, 12 finished at the bottom of their respective groups.

The Czech Republic, Qatar, Haiti, Turkey, Curacao, Tunisia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan and Panama all finished as fourth-placed sides in the group.

Iran, South Korea, Scotland and Uruguay were also knocked out as the four third-placed sides with the worst records in the group stage.

South Africa, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Ivory Coast, Sweden, Ecuador, DR Congo, Senegal, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Austria, Cape Verde, Australia, Algeria and Ghana all departed after losing in the last 32.

Eight teams also exited in the last 16, with Canada, Paraguay, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, the United States, Egypt and Colombia departing then.

Morocco, Belgium, Norway and Switzerland were the four nations to lose their matches in the quarter-finals.

Spain have become the latest side to leave the competition, having lost their semi-final against France. While they have been eliminated, they will face the loser of the other semi-final in a third-place play-off on Saturday.
