Baba Talisha, the popular TikToker and photographer, recently shared a poignant moment at his late wife’s graveside, where his young daughter asked the question he had long prepared for.
Six years after a devastating road accident changed their lives forever, Kenyan content creator Baba Talisha has opened up about a milestone moment in his journey as a widowed father. Taking to Facebook, he reflected on a recent visit to his wife’s grave with their daughter, Talisha.
It was during this visit that the youngster, who was only a baby when the tragedy occurred, sought clarity on her mother’s absence.
The Hardest Question
As they stood by the grave, the atmosphere of reflection was broken by a simple yet profound inquiry. Baba Talisha recounted how the moment unfolded on social media.
“Today, Baby Talisha visited her mom’s grave. She looked at me with innocent eyes and asked, ‘Daddy, how did Mommy die?’” he shared.
The photographer described this as the “hardest truth” he has ever had to deliver. He explained to his daughter that her mother had passed away following a road accident. Crucially, he shared a detail that connects the young girl to her mother’s final moments.
“I also told her something she’ll only understand when she’s older… that she was there too, just a little baby, even though she can’t remember any of it,” he wrote.
A Heavenly Perspective
Following the initial explanation, the conversation shifted from the past to the present. The young girl asked a follow-up question regarding her mother’s current whereabouts.
“Then she asked, ‘Where is Mommy now?’” the post continued.
Seeking to provide comfort, Baba Talisha offered a perspective that left his daughter at peace. He told her, “She’s up in the skies, watching over you every single day.”
This answer appeared to satisfy the child’s curiosity, as she simply smiled and said, “Let’s go.”
The father noted that they left the cemetery “carrying both love and heartbreak” with them.
A Life Changed in 2020
The tragedy that Baba Talisha refers to occurred in August 2020. His wife, Milka, was killed in a road accident while the family was travelling together. Their daughter, Talisha, was also in the vehicle and sustained serious injuries that required a long period of hospitalisation and recovery.
Since the loss of his wife, Baba Talisha has used his platform as a photographer and TikToker to document his life as a single father, often sharing the challenges of raising a child who survived the same accident that took her mother’s life.
Six Years of Absence
Marking the sixth anniversary of the loss, the photographer expressed the enduring pain of the void left behind. He noted that even after more than half a decade, the grief remains fresh.
“Six years have passed, but not a single day goes by without your absence being felt,” he shared. “We miss your laughter, your love, and the beautiful life we dreamed of together.”
He concluded his tribute with a promise to keep his wife’s legacy alive for their daughter. Through stories and memories, he intends to ensure that Talisha grows up knowing the incredible woman her mother was.
