The former Cabinet Secretary, who is also eyeing the presidency in the 2027 General Election, hosted the players and club officials at a special luncheon in Nairobi to celebrate their record-extending 22nd Kenya Premier League title. In a now-viral video circulating on social media, Owalo was seen handing over the reward to the jubilant squad. “I have KSh 1 million for the team. You have done us proud,” Owalo told the players during the celebrations. Owalo became Gor Mahia’s patron following the death of former patron Raila Odinga, who had supported the club for years. This is not the first time Owalo has rewarded the team for their performances.
