Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria has broken his silence following the sudden death of George Makori, a police officer whose passing has become a major talking point online.
Mosiria confirmed that Makori was his nephew and addressed swirling rumours regarding the officer’s private life.
The young officer, George Makori Morang’a Areba, was stationed at the Lodwar Police Station. He passed away on a Wednesday morning after a short illness while undergoing treatment in Lodwar.
A Devastating Family Loss
Mosiria shared his deep pain and sorrow after confirming the news through a family group. He revealed a close personal bond with the officer, having watched him grow up from a tender age.
Makori had been orphaned young, losing both of his parents—who were Mosiria’s first cousins—years ago.

“I first saw the shocking reports online and rushed to our family group, only to confirm that indeed we have lost him. This is extremely painful. I watched this young man grow up after he lost both his parents, who were my first cousins, at a tender age,” Mosiria said.
The official described the sudden loss as “devastating” for the entire family. Messages of condolence have flooded in from relatives and friends, with many sharing their “heartfelt condolences” and wishing for the officer to rest in peace.
Addressing Rumours of Multiple Partners
Following the officer’s death, reports began to trend online claiming that he had several partners and multiple children. Rather than dismissing these claims, Mosiria issued a direct and welcoming message to anyone who might be involved.
He urged those with children fathered by Makori not to stay away out of fear or shame. The official stated that the family is ready to provide “love, dignity, and responsibility” to any children left behind.
“To those claiming that he had multiple partners and many children, I want to make this clear: if there are any child or children he left behind, please do not run away or hide them. Bring my grandchildren home.”
DNA Testing and Official Recognition
While the family is open to welcoming new members, they have put a formal process in place. Mosiria confirmed that the family will use DNA identification to verify these claims.
This mechanism is intended to ensure that every “genuine child” is “rightfully welcomed and fully recognised” as part of the family. Mosiria emphasised that the family does not believe in abandoning children or leaving them to suffer without a sense of identity.
“Our family will receive and care for them with love, dignity, and responsibility. We do not abandon our blood children or leave them out there to suffer without proper identity and belonging,” he said.
A History of Large Lineage
To provide context to the situation, Mosiria opened up about his family’s heritage. He explained that they come from a large, extended lineage where polygamy was a standard practice.

He shared that his own grandfather was polygamous and had more than 20 children. This tradition, he noted, continued into his parents’ generation and is viewed by his community as a “sign of blessing”.
“This is a cultural practice in many communities, often seen as a sign of blessing and continuity of family lineage.”
