Barcelona’s preseason plans Barcelona are expected to change their plans this year and are set to have a two-week training camp close to home at the request of head coach Hansi Flick. The German head coach wants to prioritise the health and comfort of his players after a long season. European clubs are used to going to Asia and the United States for their preseason tours to build their international profiles. Will Barcelona play Liverpool in Kenya? However, SPORT now reports that Barcelona are considering playing Liverpool in Nairobi on August 8 after having a 15-day camp in Birmingham, England. The two teams haven’t met since 2019, when Liverpool won 4-0 to overturn a 3-0 first-leg Champions League semi-final deficit.

The Blaugrana are also considering playing in Morocco against a local opponent. On paper, Morocco appears to be the more feasible option due to its close proximity to Spain and readymade infrastructure. Where would Barcelona play Liverpool in Kenya? Should the La Liga giants settle on Kenya, there is a huge chance the game would be played at the Talanta Sports Complex along Ngong Road. The 60,000-seater stadium, which will be renamed Raila Odinga Stadium upon completion, is in its final phase and is expected to be completed before then.  The stadium was built specifically with the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations in mind, but must be tested before the competition, and there is no better way than having the two European heavyweights go toe-to-toe in Nairobi. Both clubs are expected to miss some of their top players who will reach the latter stages of the World Cup for a huge chunk of their preseason. As for Liverpool, it will be their first preseason in nine years without Mohamed Salah, as the Egyptian is leaving at the end of the season.
