William Ruto Security Breaches: 3 Incidents That Tested President’s Safety

President William Ruto is arguably the most guarded Kenyan alive, protected by layers of elite security personnel from the Presidential Security Unit, GSU, and specialised teams.

Yet, despite this formidable protection, the Head of State has faced several worrying security breaches during public appearances since taking office in 2022, TUKO.co.ke picked the most significant security incidents that the president has faced. These incidents have left Kenyans wondering why the famously impenetrable presidential security has recently been subjected to numerous breaches. Concerns are rising over the safety of the head of state during public rallies and state events.

1. Was Ruto hit in Lang’ata?

The latest incident occurred on Tuesday, April 28, when a white object believed to be a bottle was hurled at him from the crowd during a development tour in Soweto, Lang’ata. Ruto moved through the area alongside MP Jalang’o, security officers, and other government officials, joined by large crowds. During the walk, he paused briefly to interact with local traders before continuing. After the white object was hurled from behind, creating a moment of tension. His security team quickly surrounded him and attempted to locate the person responsible, but neither the suspect nor the object was immediately found.

2. Ruto hit by object

In May of 2025, the president’s security experienced another breach. Ruto was addressing a crowd when an object was hurled at him. Videos circulating online show the object hit his left arm while raised as he addressed the audience. The incident occurred in Migori county, where the president was speaking during a three-day regional tour.

3. Man rushes at Ruto

In the third incident, the president faced a moment of scare when a man charged at him while he was addressing a crowd in Wajir county. The daring man was identified as Ahmed Mohamed. was swept aside by the president’s guard and later interrogated to establish his motive. The three incidents have painted an embarrassing image of state security and sparked an uproar among Kenyans. Here are a few comments from the users.
