Tragedy in Kiambu: Woman found dead on her bed, husband missing

A 42-year-old woman was found dead in her house in a suspected murder incident in Kikuyu Sub-county, Kiambu County.

The incident was reported early Wednesday morning, April 1, 2026, in the Gikambura area.

Police visited the scene and found the body of Patricia lying on her bed. Preliminary observations indicated that the deceased had sustained a broken left limb and bruises on both knees.

Police said a man, who is married to the deceased, is currently missing.

He had reportedly informed his mother that his wife returned home intoxicated, claiming she had been involved in a motorcycle accident.

Authorities said efforts to trace him are ongoing, and he is expected to be questioned once located.

The body was moved to St. Teresa Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Police are treating the case as a suspected murder while investigations continue.

Elsewhere, police in Imenti South Sub-county, Meru County, launched investigations after a man was found beheaded by the roadside in the Kiogone area.

The incident was reported on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2026, by riders transporting milk to a depot in Kionyo, who stumbled upon the body.

Police officers visited the scene at Chionkaga village in Kiamiugu, Upper Kiogone sub-location, and identified the deceased as Anthony Mwenda Muriithi, a 40-year-old man.

Authorities established that he had been attacked and killed, with his head severed from the body. Police searched nearby bushes for the missing head, but it was not immediately recovered.

Crime scene investigators processed the scene, and the body was moved to Kanyakine Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

Investigations into the motive and perpetrators of the killing are ongoing, with detectives from DCI Abogeta leading the probe. The motive of the murder has not yet been established.

In a separate incident, police in Tinderet Sub-county, Nandi County, are investigating a suspected murder in which a 45-year-old man was allegedly killed by a neighbour on Wednesday.

The motive of the incident was not immediately established, police said. The case was reported on April 1, 2026, at Omamo Estate within the Songhor area.

Police visited the scene and found the lifeless body of Agrey Masika lying in a pool of blood just outside the doorstep of his rental house.

Preliminary findings indicate that the victim sustained deep cuts to the head and left ankle, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.

Police said the suspect, described as a male adult neighbour aged about 36 years, fled the scene with the weapon and remains at large.

Investigators processed and documented the scene, and the body was moved to Nandi Hills County Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect as investigations into the motive continue.
