Kenya Met Warns of Rainfall in 6 Regions, Sunny and Dry Conditions in Other Parts over Next 5 Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued its five-day weather forecast covering Saturday, February 14, to Wednesday, February 18. Kenya Met said some parts will receive rainfall over the next five days.  In a notice, the weatherman projected that most parts of the country will experience sunny and dry conditions for five days. However, some counties in six regions, including the Lake Victoria Basin, will likely receive some rainfall during the period under review.Several parts of the country are expected to be sunny and dry. However, rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Southeastern Lowlands,” Kenya Met said.

1. The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley Counties in these regions are Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot. The weatherman predicted that these counties will receive showers and thunderstorms from February 15 to 18, with night showers over a few places. Maximum temperatures will be 31°C; and minimum temperatures will be 09°C.

2. Northwestern The counties of Turkana and Samburu will experience sunny conditions both during the day and at night, with a maximum temperature of 38°C and a minimum temperature of 10°C

3. Highlands East of the Rift Valley The counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi will experience cloudy weather breaking into sunny intervals during morning hours. Kenya Met predicted that in the afternoon, these counties will experience showers over a few places from Sunday, February 15, to Wednesday, February 18. 4. North-eastern The counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo will have morning sunny intervals and also in the afternoon. The department projected that maximum temperatures will be 39°C and minimum temperatures will be 16°C.

5. South-eastern lowlands The weatherman projected that the counties of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, are likely to experience rains in the afternoon. They are also likely to receive showers at night on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Maximum temperatures are projected to be 34°C while minimum temperatures are likely to be 13°C.

6. Coast The counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale, as well as the Tana Delta will experience sunny intervals both in the morning and afternoon. However, a few places in Kwale county are likely to receive some rainfall on Wednesday, February 18. In the coastal region, the maximum temperatures will be 34°C and the minimum temperatures 21°C.
