Adequate Safaris CEO Maurine Kabu has finally broken her silence following explosive allegations suggesting she is romantically involved with her father, Simon Kabu, the co-founder of Bonfire Adventures.
The claims were brought to light through court documents filed by Simon’s ex-wife, Sarah Njoki Mtalii, who alleged that Simon only began referring to Maurine as his daughter after their 15-year marriage had ended.
Sarah insists that during their time together, she was never informed of Maurine’s familial connection to her husband.
In the same documents, Sarah alleged that Maurine now resides in her former matrimonial home and has benefited from properties that were previously jointly owned by her and Simon.
These revelations prompted widespread speculation online, with many questioning the true nature of the relationship between Simon and Maurine.
While Simon has categorically dismissed the allegations as malicious and unfounded, Maurine had until recently refrained from commenting publicly.
However, she has now addressed the matter indirectly through social media.

Maurine’s Subtle Social Media Response
In a recent Instagram post, Maurine shared a photo of herself and Simon at work, accompanied by an emotional caption: “My dad has been my biggest mentor, the one who shaped who I am. What’s that one unforgettable thing your dad did for you?”
She also posted vacation videos of the two enjoying a trip to Zanzibar—riding horses through shallow ocean waters and posing together for what many viewed as typical father-daughter moments.
The pair were also spotted during a night out described as a “father-daughter date,” a move some interpreted as a subtle response to the swirling rumours.
Sarah Mtalii’s Shifting Narrative
Amidst the controversy, a TikTok video has surfaced showing Sarah Mtalii acknowledging that she was aware of Simon’s other children prior to their marriage.
This marks a notable shift from her earlier public claims made in 2021, when the couple’s relationship first began to unravel.
At the time, Sarah left their home and accused Simon of kidnapping their children. She also claimed that Simon’s eldest daughter—now identified as Maurine—had been with the children, referring to her as a stranger.
In the newly shared clip, Sarah clarifies her position, stating: “It is not another family. He had a relationship with someone, and they had a daughter. He also had a relationship with someone else, and they had a son. So by the time I was getting married, I was aware of them.”
Her statement follows renewed public interest after she challenged the legitimacy of Simon’s relationship with Maurine in court, casting doubt on the true nature of their bond.

Legal Threats and Public Reactions
The accusations have drawn mixed reactions online, with some calling for discretion and others demanding clarity. Simon Kabu, for his part, has vowed to pursue legal action against his estranged wife, whom he also referred to as his former business partner.
As the saga continues to unfold, Kenyans remain divided over the motivations behind the allegations, with many awaiting the next development in what has become one of the country’s most talked-about family dramas.
