“I Messed Up”: 2Baba Apologises After Controversial Polygamy Comments

Nigerian music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has publicly apologised to his wife Natasha Osawaru, their children, and his fans following a wave of backlash over comments he made suggesting that men are “not built” to remain sexually faithful to one partner.

Taking to Instagram in the early hours of 2 July 2025, the award-winning singer shared a candid video in which he expressed sincere regret for his remarks, which many viewed as offensive and reductive.

“I know I messed up with what I said… I know I’m going to pay a heavy price. I want people to understand my stance, but there’s no excuse. I own it,” 2Baba admitted.

The African Queen hitmaker went on to issue a heartfelt apology to those he disappointed and hurt:

“I’ve hurt so many people—my fans, my parents, people who look up to me… This isn’t who I am. I’m truly sorry.”

Turning his attention to his family, he addressed his wife directly with an emotional message:

“Natasha, you are incredible: smart, loving, wonderful—I’m so sorry. To my kids… you don’t deserve to be dragged into this.”

The apology follows intense criticism after a podcast clip featuring 2Baba went viral. In the interview, he claimed that while a man’s heart could remain devoted to one woman, his biology doesn’t allow him to be sexually faithful, stating: “It’s the nature of a man.”

The comments sparked widespread outrage online, with many accusing him of perpetuating harmful stereotypes about men and relationships. Some fans, however, appreciated his honesty, acknowledging that he had voiced what some perceive as a common, if uncomfortable, belief.

As the apology video circulated across social media platforms, reactions were mixed but leaned towards admiration for 2Baba’s willingness to admit fault and publicly make amends.

“I respect him for apologising—owning up is never easy,” one fan commented on X, while another wrote, “This is disappointing, but at least he is facing it head-on.”

2Baba, regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential artists, has enjoyed a career spanning over two decades, earning accolades both locally and internationally. His personal life, however, has occasionally made headlines, with this latest controversy shining yet another spotlight on the pressures of fame, relationships, and public scrutiny.
