An exclusive red carpet event was held on Friday evening in Karen to unveil the much-anticipated second season of the epic historical drama Shaka iLembe.

The star-studded affair attracted a distinguished mix of diplomats, entertainment industry stakeholders, and devoted fans of the acclaimed series.

Guests were treated to an exclusive first-look screening of Season 2, ahead of its official premiere on Sunday. The new season promises to delve deeper into the legacy of Shaka Zulu, chronicling his ambitious mission to unite the Nguni people and forge one of Africa’s most formidable kingdoms.

The premiere welcomed several high-profile figures from the diplomatic and cultural sectors. Among the dignitaries in attendance were His Excellency Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, the South African High Commissioner to Kenya; Her Excellency Winpeg Moyo, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Kenya and Chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC); and Timothy Owase, CEO of the Kenya Film Commission.

Also present were MultiChoice Kenya’s Managing Director Nzola Miranda and Regional Director Glauco Ferreira.

Adding a touch of celebrity glamour to the evening were The Mommy Club NBO personalities Lynne Njihia and Ofentse Tsipa. Ofentse is the sister of Lemogang Tsipa, who reprises his widely praised role as Shaka in the new season.

Season 2 picks up with Shaka Zulu firmly at the helm of a rising power. As he continues to forge alliances with various clans—including the Elangeni, Ndwandwe, Mabhudu, Mthethwa, Hlubi, and Qwabe—the series introduces new historical figures such as King Phungashe of the Buthelezi, Queen Lojiba, and King Somhlolo of the Swati.

As Shaka’s influence grows, the arrival of European powers—the British and Boers—signals the beginning of seismic shifts in the region’s geopolitical landscape and a looming clash of empires.

The series has garnered widespread acclaim for its authenticity, production value, and richly detailed portrayal of precolonial African history.

With sweeping cinematography, intricate costume design, and a narrative rooted in cultural truth, Shaka iLembe continues to cement its reputation as one of the most ambitious television productions to emerge from the African continent in recent years.
