Administration Police Constable Samuel Ndirangu Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, has been declared to have deserted work by the National Police Service after allegedly failing to return from official off-duty.

An internal memo dated June 9, 2025, claimed Samidoh, who is attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (MTD Company), was due to resume duty on May 27, 2025, but has not reported back since.

Authorities have since lost contact with him, and efforts to trace his whereabouts have been unsuccessful, the memo said.

“The officer was granted an off-duty and was supposed to report back on May 27, 2025, but he failed. Since then, he has not been seen and his whereabouts are not known,” the memo reads.

The communication was circulated from Stockpol Gilgil to all key police formations, including DISGEN APS, Vigilance House Nairobi, CRO Nairobi, and all Station Police Commanders (Stapols) across the country.

It declared Samidoh a deserter with effect from June 6, 2025, having absented himself without leave (AWOL) for over 10 days.

As part of disciplinary measures, the Pay Section has been directed to stop his salary with immediate effect, while Stockpol MTD Company is tasked with initiating further administrative action.

The Central Records Office (CRO) Nairobi has also been instructed to circulate the desertion notice in the next issue of the National Police Gazette.

Meanwhile, the Stapol in Gatumbiro has been directed to visit his home and arrest him if found.

Samidoh, who is also a celebrated Kikuyu musician, has not issued any public statement regarding his absence.

He has, however, been active on social media, including a post on Instagram with the time stamp showing two hours ago as at 8:36 am on June 10, 2025.
