Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi has promised to cater for the education of 13-year-old Ugandan pool player, whom he met at the Timba XO pool tournament.
Amidst a sea of over 300 fierce competitors at the tournament, the Ugandan prodigy Herbert Mukisa, known in the circuit as the Dynamite Kid, caught the eye of Sudi.
Mukisa, a scrappy, determined teenager from humble beginnings, had crossed the border into Kenya not just to chase trophies, but to raise school fees.
Juggling menial jobs back home and hustling in tournaments, the young champ’s sheer passion shone through.
Sudi, known for his rollercoaster political moments, was so moved by Mukisa’s grit that he decided, right on the spot, to sponsor the boy’s education.
“Gladly met with 13-year-old Herbert Mukisa aka Dynamite Kid from Uganda at the Timba XO International pool carnival,” Sudi shared with his followers.
“He is a passionate pool player from a humble background who, apart from doing menial jobs, relies on tournaments like this to raise school fees. I have dedicated to sponsor his education going forward.”
But it is not just about the balls and cues, the carnival has pulled in a glittering crowd of celebrities and influencers, turning the usually quiet Eldoret scene into a showbiz playground.
Among the familiar faces is controversial media personality Andrew Kibe, who was spotted in a lively exchange with Sudi on the sidelines.
In a playful social media post, Sudi hyped up their meeting, saying, “When the engineer meets the radio king Andrew Kibe, you know something’s about to go down at the much anticipated final of the Timba XO International Pool Carnival.”
Kibe, never one to shy away from the spotlight, shot back with praise, “Shukran bwana @HonOscarSudi for hosting the biggest pool tournament we’ve ever had in Kenya. Pool is Back.”
With high stakes, celebrity buzz, and a packed house, Eldoret’s nightlife got a moment in the limelight and all eyes were on who will walk away with the glory and the millions in price money.
