Migori: Residents of Sango protest poor condition of roads

Residents of Sango in East Kamagambo ward, in Rongo, Migori County, have protested over the deteriorating condition of the road connecting Sango Primary School to Maram through Kami Ombugu and Kudho.

The angry residents, who planted banana suckers along the road, lamented that the current state of the road has severely hampered economic activities in the area.

Janet Apiyo, a local resident, recounted tragic consequences of the impassable road, including the loss of a life.

She narrated that a mother who just delivered twins lost one of them while traveling back home from the hospital.

“The road is in such a terrible state that it has cost us lives and disrupted our businesses,” Apiyo said, calling for urgent intervention.

Adika Ogaga expressed concern over funeral arrangements involving a kin, wondering how they will ferry the body of their loved one from the morgue.

Residents accused political leaders of failing to deliver on promises to improve the road.

“Leaders have been promising to fix this road when seeking votes, but once elected, they forget their pledges,” Ogaga lamented.

The community has appealed to both county and national government authorities to take immediate action to repair the road.
