Lydia Wanjiru’s Expensive and Hilarious Drunk Mishap Goes Viral

Content creator Lydia Wanjiru recently opened up about how a light-hearted weekend hangout with friends unexpectedly turned into a hilarious misadventure.

Sharing her story on TikTok, she narrated how a night of drinking ended with her booking a flight—completely by accident.

In her now-viral video, Lydia poked fun at how people behave when intoxicated, especially when it comes to texting.

She highlighted how common it is to send messages to the wrong people—particularly ex-partners—and to over-express emotions we would normally suppress when sober.

“I woke up at 3:00am only to find out that I had booked a flight from Nairobi to Kisumu,” she said in disbelief. The revelation left both her and her followers in stitches.

She recalled how her ex used to randomly book tickets for her, which made the situation even more ironic. Upon checking her messages, she confirmed receiving an official notification:

“Hello Lydia! Your Jambojet flight to Kisumu at 15:20 will be ready for take-off in just a few hours. Double-check your travel documents, pack your essentials, and head to the airport with time to spare for a seamless journey. We look forward to serving you.”

Although she decided to reschedule the flight, Lydia laughed about how the spontaneous trip to her ex’s hometown now had to happen—just on a different day.

Reflecting on the incident, she joked, “Lydia doesn’t learn. I need supervision to become the person I want to be. If you’re looking for the perfect content creator or influencer, I’m not the one.”

Fortunately, she found comfort in the fact that she hadn’t gone as far as calling or emotionally oversharing with her ex.

“At least I didn’t text or call him while drunk,” she said with a sigh of relief. “That would have been really embarrassing.”

Wrapping up the story with humour and honesty, Lydia posed a question to her followers:

“What’s your drunk texting experience?”
