Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga has warned land rate defaulters of enforcement actions, including auction, if they do not settle their arrears.

In a notice on Tuesday, the county government listed 154 institutions and 1,738 individuals with arrears owed to the county.

The amount owed is over Sh30 billion.

“The owners of the listed properties are advised to ensure that they pay outstanding land rates arrears owed to the County Government of Kisumu otherwise the properties shall be subject to penalties, interest and enforcement actions including but not limited to auction,” the notice reads.

The owners have been advised to make their payments through the City of Kisumu Revenue Collection account once they obtain their invoices.

The bank details are: Cooperative Bank of Kenya, Kisumu Main Branch with the account name as City of Kisumu Revenue Collection, account number 01101496329001, paybill 400222, A/C 84933#BLLNo.

In the case that one has already paid and is appearing on the list, they should visit the city of Kisumu office for reconciliation.

A copy of the list can be accessed on the city website: city.kisumu.go.ke.

The owners of the listed properties are expected to attend the governor’s roundtable on land.

“All owners of the listed properties are requested to attend the governor’s roundtable on land, scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2025, from 9 am at Tom Mboya Labour College, Kisumu,” the notice said.

The owners should register to attend through https://city.kisumu.go.ke/landregister/.

For enquiries or assistance, the owners can call +254706467893 or email city.planning@kisumu.go.ke.
