Kisii: Residents fear for safety after electricity poles collapse on homes

Residents of Boruma and Taracha areas in Bireno and Ibeno Wards, Kisii County, are living in fear after electricity poles fell onto their houses.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, local residents, led by Mary Kwamboka, expressed their concern that the poles have yet to be removed from their roofs two weeks later.

Kwamboka noted that many families have been compelled to seek temporary shelter away from their homes due to safety concerns.

Additionally, residents have raised alarms about a potential rise in insecurity in the area, fearing an increase in theft and other criminal activities.

Despite reporting the issue to Kenya Power, residents say no action has been taken to resolve the situation.

They are urgently appealing to the government to intervene and address the matter before it escalates further.
