He was hit while attempting to cross the busy road on foot, according to preliminary police reports. .

However, it was not until Saturday, April 12, that his family learned of his passing. A relative, concerned by his uncharacteristic silence, placed a call to his phone only to be answered by a woman at the Kiambu Police Station.  The officer informed the caller that Apollo had been involved in a serious road accident earlier in the week and had, unfortunately, died from his injuries. Silas Apollo was hit by speeding motorcycle.  This revelation left the family devastated and shocked, especially considering they had not been contacted sooner. Conflicting reports initially circulated regarding the exact location of the incident, but police now believe that Apollo was crossing the road when the motorcyclist, who is said to have been speeding, hit him.

The injured journalist was rushed to St. Teresa’s Hospital and later transferred to Kiambu Level 6 Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was then moved to the mortuary, awaiting postmortem and formal identification. The delay in identifying Apollo is attributed to the fact that he did not have any immediate identification documents on him at the time of the accident. Police have since launched an investigation into the matter, including efforts to trace the motorcyclist involved.

Silas Apollo’s career Apollo had a distinguished career in journalism, spanning nearly a decade, with experience in both print and broadcast media. During his time at Nation Media Group, he covered key beats such as parliamentary affairs, current events, and business, gaining a reputation as a credible and insightful reporter. His colleagues remember him as a humble, hardworking, and principled journalist who had a deep commitment to telling impactful stories. His sudden and tragic passing has left a huge void in the media fraternity, with tributes pouring in from friends, colleagues, and former editors who had worked closely with him.
