Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali is threatening to leave the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
He claims that the upcoming party elections have been compromised, blaming the party’s Secretary General, Hassan Omar, for the issue.
“If he (Hassan Omar) continues to treat the party as his personal property, we will have no choice but to decamp as one,” he warned.
Ali announced his withdrawal from the upcoming polls, accusing Omar of “blatant interference.”
“His evident handpicking of officials to manipulate the outcome represents nothing buta profound conflict of interest,” he stated.
“His tendency to micromanage the party, prioritizing his personal political interests over the will of the people, is not only unacceptable but also a grave disservice to the citizens of Mombasa,” he added.
The lawmaker insists that UDA, like any political party, belongs to the people, not to any single individual, regardless of their position.
“Despite this disheartening development, I want to assure all my loyal supporters that we will not be deterred. When the right moment comes, we will confront this issue head-on,” he said
