Bomet traders count losses as fire razes stalls at Sigor trading centre

A section of traders at Sigor trading centre in Chepalungu, Bomet county, are counting losses following a fire which razed their premises.

No one was injured in the incident and the cause of the fire is yet to be established.

Traders scrambled to try and save whatever was left of their wares as they lamented that goods worth hundred of thousands of shillings had been lost in the fire.

Police have opened investigations into the incident to establish the cause of the fire.

Traders said they were left stranded and did not know where to go next, adding that they depended solely on their businesses for their livelihood.

One trader said, “I tried to salvage my goods but the fire had destroyed everything by the time I go to my shop.”
