Ayra Starr cast in ‘Children of Blood and Bone’

Award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ayra Starr has been cast in the movie adaptation of ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ written by Tomi Adeyemi.

Starr has been added to the lineup alongside Saniyya Sidney (Fences), Zackary Momoh (Harriet), Richard Mofe-Damijo (Namaste Wahala), Pamilerin Ayodeji (Mikolo), Shamz Garuba (Crime and Justice Lagos), Kola Bodunde (Shadow) and Temi Fagbenle. Ayodeji and Garuba were cast through an open casting call in Nigeria.

Initial casting of the main cast was announced in February which includes Thuso Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Idris Elba, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Diaana Babnicova, and Bukky Bakray.

Paramount Pictures is the studio behind the adaptation with Gina Prince Bythewood set to direct.

The film is set for theatres in 2027.
