Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter Ugochi Lydia Onuoha, better known as Guchi, has shared the funniest rumour she’s ever heard about herself.
The rumour, which involved her dating a well-known and controversial Kenyan singer and entrepreneur, had her laughing out loud.
Guchi, who arrived in Kenya two days ago, found it hilarious, especially since she considers the singer more like a brother.
In an interview with local media, the “Benzema” hitmaker said, “The funniest rumour I’ve heard about myself is that I am dating Willy Paul,” and she chuckled softly.
She went on to explain that the idea was so funny because she sees Willy Paul, also known as Pozze, in a completely different way. “That is very funny… because he is just like a brother to me,” Guchi added honestly.
As for her relationship status, Guchi confirmed that she is not dating anyone at the moment. When asked if she’s in a relationship, her answer was a clear no.
The “Jeniffer” singer insists she is completely focused on her music career.
When it comes to her favorite Kenyan artist, Guchi dodged the question a bit, praising the industry as a whole. “My favorite Kenyan artist right now? Well, there are too many of them. Seriously, there are so many, so I’m not mentioning any names,” she said.

Guchi also revealed that if she weren’t in the entertainment industry, she’d likely be an entrepreneur because she loves business and is a very hardworking woman.
Guchi and Willy Paul first worked together in 2022, releasing the song “You,” which has over 7.2 million views on YouTube.
The chemistry between them in the music video and during the promotion of the song was undeniable. Pozze, the head of Saldido International Entertainment, praised the track, saying it was going to be a big hit, just like his previous collaboration with Alaine.
True to his words, the following year, Willy Paul celebrated a major milestone on TikTok. He proudly announced that his collaboration with Guchi had become the first song by an East African artist to be featured with a banner on TikTok across all Sub-Saharan African markets.
“Nani Simba sasa Jameni Pozze tu (Let’s be honest, who is the lion now? Only Pozee),” Willy Paul wrote at the time.
He added, “The first-ever East African artist to have a banner all over SSA (Sub-Saharan Africa) on TikTok… with nearly 1 million video challenges. This is a big win, fam.”
