Former Miss Kenya Rachel Mbuki recently called out Amber Ray for allegedly encouraging people to have extravagant weddings. Amber was heard advising against what she called “Chwarachwara weddings.”
The socialite took to her socials to comment on Hamisa Mobetto’s wedding, saying:
“Hey, my good people, I’m telling you, ndio kuamka. Jana usiku kazi ilikuwa tu kuwatch videos za harusi ya Hamisa!”
The mother of two went on to praise the Tanzanian beauty, saying she had redefined what an elegant, flashy, and expensive wedding should look like.
“Standards have been set! Like, standards have been set high up here!”
Hamisa Mobetto recently tied the knot with her footballer husband, Stephane Azziz, in a luxurious wedding emceed by Kenyan media personality Azeezah.
Amber later explained that Hamisa’s wedding had inspired her to rethink her own. She praised the event’s setup, décor, and overall execution, admitting she felt challenged by the level of elegance.
“I’m so happy to see a girl win! Si kila saa sisi ndio tunakuwa trendsetters. Now, I have gotten motivation. I have felt challenged. I had planned to do my wedding this year, but let me tell you, to be honest… let me go back to the drawing board because the bar has been set.”
Amber is currently engaged to businessman Kennedy Rapudo and has been planning her wedding.

Rachel, who has previously claimed that Amber Ray bullied her, shared her own take on the matter. She urged Kenyans to only have weddings they can afford, posting on her Instagram stories:
“This is so stupid to say. Exactly what I’m talking about—the mentality they have. Have the wedding you can afford. Don’t go into debt trying to have a lavish wedding to set standards for people who don’t care at the end of the day. Have a tiny wedding with your loved ones, elope, go to the courthouse, or have a huge wedding—but only if it’s what serves you and your spouse and you can afford it. Your marriage is about you two first and foremost. The people who come will only come for the food and pictures, and I guarantee you they will be chatting the whole time anyway.”
She also argued that most lavish weddings do not last, adding:
“Just inviting the evil eye to the wedding and online into your sacred marriage so you can set standards. Lavish weddings do not last long.”
She then concluded her post by congratulating Hamisa:
“Oh, and congrats to Hamisa!”
