President William Ruto has sent a message of condolence to the people of Namibia following the passing of their founding President Dr. Sam Nujoma.

Ruto described Nujoma as a selfless, courageous, and visionary leader who dedicated his life to the liberation and development of Namibia.

“We stand in solidarity with the people of Namibia in mourning the passing away of their founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma,” Ruto said.

The Head of State extended his sympathies to Nujoma’s family and the entire nation.

“Our thoughts and love are with the family and the people of Namibia at this time of grief. Rest in peace, Africa’s hero!” he added.

Nujoma, who led Namibia’s struggle for independence and became its first President in 1990, is remembered for his role in shaping the country’s post-colonial governance.

He passed away on February 8, 2025 while receiving treatment at a hospital in Windhoek.
