President William Ruto on Tuesday conveyed his best wishes to the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

In a special message, Ruto expressed his hopes that the arrival of the Year of the Wood Snake will bring bountiful harvests and good fortune to the Chinese people and their leadership, led by President Xi Jinping.

President Ruto stated: “On behalf of the Government and the people of Kenya, I extend my sincere best wishes to His Excellency President Xi Jinping, the Government, and the people of the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Snake.”

“May the New Year redound with abundance borne of your country’s commitment to the wellbeing of others,” the President added.

His message follows a recent commitment to strengthen Kenya’s cordial relations with China. During a meeting with the new Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, Ruto noted that Nairobi will collaborate closely with Beijing under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to enhance economic growth and mutual benefits for both nations.

In China, New Year celebrations typically feature family reunions, feasts, and cultural performances.
