Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday, January 20, in a ceremony held inside the Capitol Hill Rotunda due to unfavourable weather conditions. . The day coincided with the national celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, adding historical resonance to the occasion. The inauguration marked the beginning of Trump’s second term in office, underscoring his continued influence in shaping the nation’s political landscape. . In his inaugural address, President Trump reaffirmed his commitment to putting “America first,” vowing to restore the nation’s greatness and make it a model admired by the world. The president announced a series of initiatives to revitalise America’s economy, infrastructure, and global standing.

What did Trump say about Martin Luther King? Trump also expressed gratitude to Black and Hispanic communities for their support during the election, linking his vision for the country to the ideals of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. “Today is Martin Luther King Day, and his honour, this will be a great honour, but in his honour, we will strive together to make his dream a reality. We will make his dream come true,” Trump said amid applause. His statement drew a connection between his administration’s goals and the civil rights leader’s dream of unity and equality. Following the address, Pastor Lorenzo Sowell delivered a stirring prayer, which resonated deeply with many attendees, particularly members of the Black community.  His invocation, widely praised for its emotional depth, sparked mixed reactions online. While some applauded its message of hope and resilience, others noted similarities to excerpts from Dr. King’s speeches.

Despite the differing opinions, Pastor Sewell’s prayer was seen by many as a symbolic gesture of unity and a tribute to the ongoing struggle for racial equality in the United States. How did citizens react to pastor’s prayer during Trump’s inauguration? @B_orih said: “Yes, this was something of a kind. Very powerful indeed.” @kerosi_bobby replied: “This prayer was very prophetic and powerful.” @monsieur_ppo observed: “It carried the mood of the event.” @Corso4Diane stated: “Beautiful powerful prayer! Thank you, pastor!” @KingPyegonn remarked: “The pastor simply did an excerpt from the great speech by Martin Luther King Jr. What a prayer!” @cbs_ke explained: “Pastor Lorenzo Sewell’s heartfelt prayer at President Trump’s inauguration was a powerful moment, invoking unity and divine guidance for the nation. His mention of Stone Mountain, Georgia, symbolised a call for freedom and justice.”  @Sammie_Mimi210 expressed: “Very powerful and pretty anointed.

He was awesome! I’m pretty sure God heard him too.” @fabmikel said: “A powerful prayer that brings down all the angels of power and authority.” @its_just_ING confessed: “I had to rewind and watch again! He delivered!” Donald Trump announces end to LGBTQ+ Meanwhile, President Trump declared an end to the government’s efforts to recognise and affirm LGBTQ+ rights, reaffirming that the United States will only officially recognise two genders: male and female. Trump expressed his belief that America should move away from efforts to socially engineer race and gender in both public and private spheres, promising to eliminate what he described as unnecessary government intervention in such matters. This declaration comes as part of a broader agenda to reshape social policies under his administration
