KeNHA releases Kiambu County garbage trucks after resolving dispute

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has released Kiambu County garbage trucks that were detained at the Juja Weighbridge over non-payment of parking fees.

KeNHA Deputy Director of Axle Load Control, Eng. Michael Ngala stated that the authority reached an agreement with the county government.

He clarified that the accumulated parking fees of Ksh 600,000 arose due to delays in settling overload fines by the county administration.

On Thursday Operations Kiambu County Government staged a protest at the Juja Weighbridge calling for the release of the trucks that had been detained at the toll station for over three months.

The authority on its part however maintained that it was not going to release truck until the devolved unit pays the outstanding fees.
