In an exclusive response to TUKO.co.ke, Safaricom explained that its loyalty points cannot be converted to cash. The company shared possible ways a customer can use Bonga points, including paying for goods via pay bill or Lipa na M-Pesa services. “It’s not possible to transfer Bonga points to cash per se. However, you can use the Bonga points to pay for items via Lipa na MPESA Buy Goods and Paybill,” said Safaricom. JJ Titus’ request came a year after the telco launched a new service allowing customers to request Bonga Points from other users subscribed to the telecommunications company. The new service, dubbed Niokolee Bonga Points, will come in handy for customers facing airtime or bundle shortages. Safaricom noted the new service will help customers request Bonga Points from other users, and once the user accepts the request, the recipient receives the Bonga Points.
