Rigathi Gachagua Slams Ruto and Allies, Questions How He Was the Problem in Govt: “Mlidanganywa”

Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has told off his political opponents, questioning how he became the scapegoat for Kenya’s problems. Former DP Rigathi Gachagua promised to give Mt Kenya residents the way forward in the coming days. Gachagua voiced his disappointment with the political betrayal from his own allies during his historic impeachment.

Speaking at the funeral service of Eric Mutugi, the son of former Embu senator Lenny Kivuti, Gachagua called out MPs who were misled into believing that his removal would solve the country’s issues. He further elaborated that he did not bear a grudge against the MPs, adding they shouldn’t seek forgiveness from him but from the people who had entrusted him with their votes. “You know, the Speaker of Embu, you’ve said I should forgive those who removed me from office. I have no problem with them. They didn’t wrong me. The ones who were wronged are the ones who voted for me, and those are the people.

So, if you want peace, ask for forgiveness from the citizens. It’s not me; I have no problem. I’m just a person who was elected. Now, if you remove me after I’ve been elected, don’t you think you’ve wronged those who elected me?” Gachagua said during the service at Kanyuambora Secondary School in Mbeere on Friday, January 3. Gachagua continued, challenging the MPs who were deceived into believing that his departure would lead to improvements in the country.

What is Gachagua’s plan for Mt Kenya In the wake of political realignments, Gachagua assured the people of Mt Kenya that he was listening to their concerns about the region and that he was prepared to guide them moving forward. He expressed concern about the region’s future, stating, warning that they might find themselves in what he described as the current hole. “I have listened to elders, church leaders, business people, and professionals; I continue to listen to what’s happening on the ground. We will give direction to the people of the mountain on how we will live in this Kenya.

Otherwise, we may find ourselves in the hole they’ve put us in, right,” Gachagua added. Gachagua hits out at Kimani Ichung’wah Earlier, Gachagua refuted National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah’s claims linking him to recent abductions. Gachagua accused President William Ruto and his allies of inconsistency in the abduction crisis. He urged Kenya Kwanza leaders to respect Kenyans’ intelligence, accusing Ichung’wah of using “nonsense lies” to tarnish his name. The ex-Mathira MP attributed his struggles in government to its reliance on lies, asserting his loyalty to the truth despite facing resistance.
