Man stabs wife, kills daughter following domestic fight in Kiambu

Police have launched a hunt for a man who is reported to have stabbed his wife and killed his daughter following a domestic dispute at their home in Mwihoko, Kiambu County.

According to a police report on the incident, the suspect, Elius Jacob Katanga aged 45 years who had left home following domestic differences with his wife returned to the said plot and violently knocked at the door. 

As his wife, Teresia Wairimu, 45, opened the door, he grabbed their three-year old son and said that he was leaving with him.

“The wife tried to resist and the husband (suspect) took a kitchen knife and stabbed her on her head and then turned on their daughter aged 16 who was screaming for help and stabbed her on the back,” reads the police report.

“He then escaped to an unknown destination leaving the knife and an unharmed son behind.”

Neighbours rushed the victims to Ruiru sub-county hospital where the daughter was pronounced dead on arrival while the mother was admitted and is undergoing treatment in serious but stable condition at the same facility.

A blood-stained knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene. 

“Police officers then visited Ruiru Sub-county hospital found the body of the deceased lying on a hospital bed with a stab wound on the back while the mother was undergoing treatment with injuries on the head,” added police.

The body of the deceased girl was moved to Thika level 5 hospital.
