A family in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu county, is in agony following the disappearance of their loved one. Eldoret girl Blessing Cherotich has been missing since Tuesday, December 17. Blessing Cherotich has neither returned home nor communicated with her worried family for a week. She was last seen on Tuesday, December 17, before disappearing under mysterious circumstances.
Why did Cherotich go to Kipchoge Keino Stadium? Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Mary Chelangat, Cherotich’s mother, recounted her last interaction with the teen girl. “She left home early in the morning, heading to Kipchoge Keino Stadium. She is an athlete so that she would meet up with a coach. I looked for her to train her together with fellow athletes. She usually goes with her younger sibling, and sometimes we leave with her as I go to work, but she wanted to go early that day.
I only gave her one-way fare because I knew we would meet in town as our custom, and then we would come home together. I never knew it would be the last time I saw and talked to her,” she said. Where did Cherotich go after practice? After her practice, Cherotich left the field and headed to town, where she met with her mother at the venue. When she arrived at the venue, she changed her mind and visited her friend, Tracy, to greet her.
“She did not find her as a neighbour told her that Tracy had left for the village to see her grandmother. Cherotich did not linger around as she turned around and began the journey to return to town. That was her last trace,” she said. How does Cherotich communicate with her mum? Chelangat added before her Form One daughter went to visit her friend, she was looking worried.
“Also, she never goes somewhere without telling me. She does not have a phone, so whenever she goes somewhere, she borrows a phone and informs me of her whereabouts. It was so unlike her. I have reported the matter to the police and her school,” she heartbreakingly said. Chelangat can be reached on 0726161663.
