UN Joint SDG Localisation Project Workshop brings together stakeholders from eight counties

The UN Joint SDG Localisation Project (United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office, UNDP, UNICEF and UN Women Kenya Country Offices) and Joint Devolution Inception Workshop brought together stakeholders from eight counties, national government representatives, and UN agencies.

The workshop marked a key milestone in aligning county-level development priorities with Kenya’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) commitments.The meeting introduced the Joint Devolution Programme (JDP) to the counties, followed by discussions tailored to specific county needs.

Priorities ranged from strengthening data collection and M&E systems to improving public participation processes and integrating SDGs into county policies and budgets.Counties pledged to allocate counterpart resources, strengthen SDG units, and integrate SDG tracking within their development frameworks. Peer learning and collaboration were highlighted as essential strategies for success.
