Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has lauded President William Ruto’s administration for steering the country onto a growth path since taking office. .  How did Kipchumba Murkomen praise William Ruto’s administration? Murkomen emphasised that President Ruto has remained focused on fulfilling his campaign promises and has made significant strides in delivering on his manifestos.

In his remarks at the Kapkugo Cultural Festival in Bungoma county on Saturday, December 7, Murkomen highlighted the president’s accomplishments, noting that Ruto has worked under challenging circumstances yet has remained steadfast in achieving goals related to healthcare, affordable housing, the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), and reduced the cost of living.

According to the CS, Kenya is now in a more stable position than it was before the election of the Kenya Kwanza government. “President William Ruto has done a fantastic job in two years, even in difficult circumstances. I have never seen a president so meticulous in ticking off every item in his manifesto,” Murkomen stated.

However, Murkomen did acknowledge some areas where the president may have erred, specifically in incorporating leaders from the opposition ODM party into the Cabinet and agreeing to support opposition leader Raila Odinga’s bid for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission (AUC). “The only mistake he has made is extending a hand of brotherhood and friendship to the opposition leaders and agreeing to work with Azimio leader Raila Odinga. In that, he is guilty as charged.

I believe that kind of friendship will not end with Raila, the president will reach out to all people in the country even our brother Kalonzo Musyoka is welcome to work with us,” he said. The CS encouraged Kenyans to hold the government accountable through its manifesto, ensuring that the administration is prepared to respond to any questions based on its commitments.

He expressed confidence that the country’s future is bright under President Ruto’s visionary leadership. How did Willy Mutunga, Miguna react to Murkomen’s sentiments? However, his statements have drawn sharp criticism from prominent figures, including outspoken lawyer Miguna Miguna and former chief justice Willy Mutunga. Miguna expressed frustration, claiming that more than 56 million Kenyans are worse off now than before Ruto assumed office. He accused the government of corruption and prioritising self-interest while many citizens suffered from poverty and hunger.

“The only economy that has improved in the last two years is your net worth—courtesy of our taxes. Ruto has failed pathetically. 56 million Kenyans are far worse off than when he took power. He lies worse than a firefly and has institutionalised grand corruption,” claimed Miguna. Mutunga also weighed in, dismissing Murkomen’s remarks as dishonest. “How do you develop the country when the entire ruling class is guilty of theft, corruption, wastage, politics of division, and enslavement by foreign interests?

Lying requires intelligence, which is lacking in these sycophantic utterances,” Mutunga said, criticising what he described as the government’s focus on division and its failure to address pressing national issues.
