Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ali Hassan Joho has come under heavy criticism from a section of Kenyans. Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho.  What Hassan Joho said about bloggers During a public rally in Taita Taveta on Monday, December 2, Joho slammed social media users who spend their time criticising President William Ruto’s administration.

The flamboyant CS suggested that some government critics usually rely on the free Wi-Fi provided by Ruto to criticise the government.  “There are some people in Nairobi who have smartphones and data. The data may even be the free Wi-Fi provided by Ruto. All they do is to criticise the government. While they talk we are on the ground working,” Joho said.

The former Mombasa governor threatened to start confronting bloggers who occupy social media platforms to criticise Ruto’s administration. “A country cannot be built through the internet. It cannot be built by people whose work revolves around Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Let me put them on notice. We can also talk. If they bring us trouble, we can also bring equal trouble,” he remarked.

How Kenyans reacted to Hassan Joho’s remarks A section of Kenyans did not receive the Mining CS’s sentiments well, and they vowed to take him on. Some rallied netizens to share details of Joho’s businesses so the public could boycott them. KOT Sonko™🇰🇪: “Joho with Es in KCSE at Serani Secondary school is lecturing intellectuals on X!!” Cornelius K. Ronoh: “I hope Hassan Joho is ready to finish what he started.”

I am Chege: “We are boycotting any business owned by Ali Hassan Joho. Use this post to list businesses owned by Joho.” MUKARABATI: “There are … and there is Joho. Mtandao noise made finance bill 2024 to be dropped, it made CSs to go home and joho got a chance. Mtandao exposed Adani deals… And the same mtandao will reveal even joho’s side chick. Mtandao is the media now.”

Okiya Omtatah Okoiti-Commentary: “Joho’s remarks are so unfortunate. He forgets that the same people on Twitter, TikTok and Facebook are the ones who made it possible for him to become a CS! Without June 25th, Joho would never have become the CS.” Chris Akali: “Ali Hassan Joho, the guy who likes Tik Tok and Instagram now says he is against social media🤣🤣🤣Jokers are plenty in this country.”
