PS Omollo assures cane farmers of gov’t support to restore sector

The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Interior Raymond Omollo has assured sugarcane farmers of the government’s support through reforms to improve their lives.

Omollo says the government has pumped billions into the sugar sector for the good of all cane farmers.

He says the reforms being implemented by President William Ruto’s administration are meant to uplift the livelihood of farmers.

The PS asked the farmers to embrace cane farming to benefit from the government’s support.

He called upon sugarcane farmers within the Awendo belt to give support to the management of Sony Sugar Company so as to benefit immensely from the institution.

Omollo urged a close working relationship between the management and the stakeholders to address any issues affecting the factory.

He said the food production in the country has also shot up due to government support that includes disbursement of subsidized fertilizers to farmers.

Speaking in Awendo, Migori County, the PS urged farmers to take advantage of the fertilizers to continue producing more food in the country.
