Matatu sacco Super metro has disassociated itself from graffiti supposedly placed on one of its vehicles.
The vehicle and the supposed meaning behind the graffiti has amused Kenyans who are widely sharing it on their WhatsApp groups.
There are two banners on one such PSV. SEE ABOVE.
The first one depicts an image of a man cutting a branch of a tree labelled murima, while seated on it, somewhat places reference to Kenyan politics affecting the Mt Kenya region. Murima is a cheeky moniker referring to the Mt Kenya region, a base that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua popularized.
Before his impeachment, Gachagua or Riggy G, often times cautioned politicians from ‘touching’ the region,
Gachagua often took many journeys to the Mountain where eh fasted and prayed fervently for Mt Kenya region.
The second image on the back of the matatu, is of the same man kneeling and praying, with a group of congregants or lay leaders standing and looking at him.
The matatu sacco on its social media, denied the existence of such banners calling it a photoshop.
“PHOTOSHOP IT IS.!…” they wrote on Facebook.
Kenyans have reacted to their announcement.
Jackson N. Mwanza.…The Bible says.. Fear not for I’m with you…. …
…Wafula Edwin...But it’s true
Matatu graffiti is often used as a form of expression. The art ranges from celebrities, to politicians, musicians among other cultural icons.
Many International celebrities have hailed the vehicles with their grafitti, going as far as sharing the pictures on their social media.
In 2021, Cardi B reacted to one such photo, as she loudly celebrated the recognition.
“Wow .I love ya sooo much. America is boring they need buses like this,” she tweeted.
Even American rapper Tyga reacted with pleasure in 2023.
