Activist Morara Kebaso

Activist Morara Kebaso has expressed frustration about the negative effects of his sudden fame, revealing that it has significantly disrupted his normal life. Morara Kebaso speaks on inflated costs and lost privacy.  In a recent podcast interview, Morara lamented that his newfound fame has made it difficult for him to enjoy everyday activities without being recognised. How is fame ruining Morara Kebaso’s life? He also mentioned that he faces inflated prices when shopping, as vendors tend to hike costs when they recognise him. This has made basic tasks like buying a jacket much more expensive than before.

When asked about the financial donations he has received from Kenyans, Morara downplayed their significance. He claimed that he could have earned more through his personal business and that the donations were conditional. Morara explained that some Kenyans scrutinise how he spends the money. “It has really inconvenienced my life. I am not happy. What they’ve sent me and what I would make in my personal business, I would make more doing business. What Kenyans send you come with conditions, if they see you enjoying a plate of meat, they think it’s their money.

They don’t realise that probably, you are that life before that, it has inconvenience mean a sense that now I buy things even more expensive. If I want to buy a jacket like this one. I’ll not buy it at the cost of a normal Kenyan. For, as long as it’s me, they sell it more expensive,” he said. He added that even vacations, such as his former love for visiting Diani in Mombasa, have become uncomfortable because of the constant attention and judgement from people who accuse him of misusing funds intended for activism. “Now I can’t even go on holiday in Mombasa. I was a big fan of Diani. But nowadays, if I go there I would be photographed. Some will say that Kenyans are suffering and enjoy myself,” he added.
