Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has celebrated the Senate’s resolution to uphold Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment. Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi reminded Kenyans about his earlier warning. On Thursday, October 17, a majority of Members of the Senate voted to impeach the deputy president. The senators voted to approve the 11 charges levelled against the second in command, including gross violation of the constitution.  The senators’ vote came after some dramatic scenes, including the deputy president’s failure to present his defence. Gachagua becomes the first deputy president to be removed in this way since the possibility was introduced in Kenya’s 2010 constitution.

How did Sudi react to Gachagua’s ouster Following the landmark decision, Sudi, a close ally of President William Ruto, shared a cryptic post on his social media platforms. As Gachagua faced threats of impeachment in September, the lawmaker asserted that the DP’s time in office was numbered. Sudi asserted that the embattled second in command would be impeached by the time two weeks elapsed. “Niliwaambia,” Sudi wrote, referring to his initial warning on Gachagua’s stay in office.
